Have you seen it yet? The movie? A Star is Born?

No?  Then you must STOP whatever it is you are doing at this moment (which is apparently reading my resurrected blog…) and go see the movie. NOW!

Okay, okay maybe you can’t go see the movie right at this moment. But you need to plan to do so. Really. It is that good. A gripping story that will leave you heartbroken for love lost yet hopeful for love to come.

A love story between two people.

A love story between a person and their talent.

A story of a man and his ghosts.

A story of a woman and her fears.

A story that has been told. A story yet to be told.

A day later, I can still hear Jack’s deep, raspy voice guiding Ally. A day later, I can still feel Jack’s heartache inside my heart.

A day later, I can still hear Ally’s words tremble as she finds her way. A day later, I can still feel Ally’s fear as if it were my own.

I haven’t posted on my blog in 18 months – for this reason and for that reason – for my reasons. And I have been waiting for the moment to want to write again.

Then I heard these words on a Saturday afternoon in a movie theater. From someone who had something to say.  To someone who was listening. From Jack to Ally.

Look, talent comes everywhere, but having something to say and a way to say it so that people listen to it, that’s a whole other bag. And unless you get out and you try to do it, you’ll never know. That’s just the truth. And there’s one reason we’re supposed to be here is to say something so people want to hear. So you got to grab it, and you don’t apologize, and you don’t worry about why they’re listening, or how long they’re going to be listening for, you just tell them what you want to say.”

You don’t apologize. You don’t worry about why they’re listening or for how long.

Just tell them what you want to say.

For what it’s worth.

I hung you upside down is that what you said
Baby don’t be silly and just come back to bed

Now you say you’re sad
Oh but I guess that’s better than mad
And you want me to write you a song
Oh to pull you along

So here it is your sad, sad song
written just for you
hope it makes you smile when you’re feeling blue

You say that I called you guilty without a chance to prove
Oh come on we both know you just hate to lose

Now you say you’re sad
Oh but I guess that’s better than mad
And you want me to write you a song
Just a little something to pull you along

So here it is your sad, sad song
Written by me just for you
And I hope it cheers you up
When you’re feeling oh so blue

You ask me to look in the mirror
And tell you what I see
What can I say but
I think my new hair looks good on me

Now you say you’re sad
Oh I really guess that’s better than mad
And you want me to write you a song
To pull, pull you along

So here it is your sad, sad song
Straight from me to you
To lift you up
From your deepest blue
Ah just come back to bed so I can make it up to you
